Kimolos is a quiet Aegean island of distinctive beauty, ideal for relaxed holidays and rest by its crystal-clear turquoise waters.
The island is volcanic and captivates visitors with its unique rock formations and the striking white color of its “kimolia earth”—the well-known chalk that takes its name from Kimolos and dominates the landscape.
The island is home to natural hot springs and offers not only relaxation but also a variety of activities.
Its capital is Chorio, a beautiful settlement with traditional Cycladic architecture that enchants visitors with its simplicity, tranquility, and picturesque cobblestone alleys.
Paradise-like beaches with turquoise waters, golden sands, pebbles, and striking white rocks await you in Kimolos.
Karas: A magical cove with pool-like turquoise waters. It’s not exactly a sandy beach, but rather a stretch of white rocks, perfect for diving straight into the sea.
Rema: Located next to the picturesque fishing village of Goupa, about a 15-minute walk from Chorio. It features stunning turquoise waters and pebbles. Here you’ll see the famous “syrmata” — boat garages carved into the rocks to store fishing boats during winter — as well as the “Elephant,” a rock formation shaped over time by the sea and wind.
Prassa: Internationally awarded as one of the most beautiful and impressive beaches in the world. It stands out for its crystal-clear turquoise waters and fine white sand.
Aliki: A large beach with sand, pebbles, and shallow, deep-blue waters. Tamarisk trees offer natural shade.
Bonatsa: Located next to Aliki, this spacious and sheltered beach features fine sand, shallow crystal waters, and tamarisk trees for shade. It also has a beach bar.
Ellinika: A sandy beach on the western side of the island. Don’t forget your snorkeling mask — beneath its clear blue waters lies a submerged ancient necropolis.
Mavrospilia: Don’t miss the breathtaking sunset from this beautiful beach, located very close to Ellinika.
Tip: You can borrow a book from the island’s Open Lending Library and spend your day reading by the sea.
Just across from Kimolos lies Polyaigos, an uninhabited island with crystal-clear turquoise waters and dramatic white cliffs. If you have time, we highly recommend visiting by boat for a truly unforgettable experience.
Kimolos is one of the Aegean’s hidden gems, and each year, more visitors discover it.
As the island has limited accommodation capacity, we strongly recommend booking your stay in advance.
